The Big Question: Who is the most responsible for the deaths of Odysseus' men throughout Part 1 of Odysseus' journey? Was Odysseus' leadership lacking to the point of neglect? Did his men put themselves in harms way when they didn't listen? Could Odysseus have prevented his men from eating the cattle of Helios and in doing so saved their lives? Write a well-developed essay using specific facts, reasons, examples and details from the text to explain. In the introduction, briefly explain your answer. The introduction should be at least four sentences with a thesis statement at the end of the paragraph. In the body of the essay, give your facts, reasons, examples, and details ("FRED"). Think of all of the parts of the journey where your person/people acted in a way that cost men their lives. Be detailed, retell the story in your own words, with your views of the actions. In other words, if you think Odysseus acted like a child, then tell it like it is! Don't forget your conclusion of at least three sentences. Leave your audience (a.k.a. me) something to think about in terms of the guilty party.

ESSAY SPECIFIATIONS: Essays should be at least ¾ of a page double spaced typed with regular 12 point pre-set font and margins. Type your name, period number, and date in the Header. Do not have wasted space.
